Day 5

It’s snowing!!!!

…in Virginia. Not Penticton, British Columbia. I think my car (Bermie) and I have had our fill on snow this year. And, is it just me but are all the pictures on Instagram or Facebook include pets and their reactions to snow? LOVE IT, but do you know what would make these pictures any better (not that I am opposed to any puppy picture out there)? Yup, you guessed right, if you thought of…a winter wonderland engagement photo shoot!! My mind usually likes to wander to anything wedding related and we can all thank the weather for the letter of the day because it is engagement (photos).

Alright, so let’s get real. Technology is a beautiful thing and I would say many of us like to share photos of what is going on in our lives. We try to make the backgrounds artsy fartsy with a touch of pizzazz. And I will be the first to admit to this *achem* Instagram. Amateur photographer is not on my resume even though there have been some beautiful attempts on Instagram. But, hey at least we all try, right? One of the greatest parts to plan a wedding is being able to hire someone who knows what they are doing with a camera i.e. a brilliant photographer who can capture not only the day of the wedding but beforehand with engagement photos. If you are lucky you may be able to find a friend or family member who knows what they are doing free of charge.

A lot of times when we think of any kind of celebration we think of a theme associated with the cause. It is the same case for any wedding except it is more personalized. One of the greatest things you can do for any of your photos for your wedding is personalize them. This means if you and your honey love the beach, there should be an engagement photo shoot somewhere near the beach. It is so easy to create photos that are “in” like rustic barns or the wilderness but if it doesn’t show a piece of you two then it’s not worth it. Let the photos reflect the bride and groom. Use props, get creative and if that doesn’t work then ask your photographer for any insight. Last but certainly not least, look on Pinterest. I may be a tad obsessed with it but it truly is a lifesaver. The ideas being thrown around are great and can be transformed into something that caters to your specific wedding. My board is attached to this website, so go ahead and take a look if you become stuck.

I love engagement photos and wedding photos. So, I am going to extend this subject into my next post that will feature three wedding photographers. Two are located in Virginia and the other in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The suspense is killing me. Really, I want to write about them now but I’ll just let the information above sink in first before I reveal these precious photographers.

Until next time lovely friends,

Lena P.
