Day 6

www.Stacysmithevans.com

Hey ya’all!

Two and a half weeks, yes, two and a half weeks. It has been too long since I have been able to sit down at the computer and actually compose something legible. Having the Vertigo Flu has been the absolute worst! I definitely do not recommend catching this one. If you do, it means weeks on end sitting in bed and doing nothing. Extroverts beware!

Now, that I am finally able to move around the house without getting lightheaded I can FINALLY introduce a few of my favorite photographers. Last blog, we discussed the importance of engagements photos for a wedding. Let’s recap very quickly:

  • The photographer needs to fit well with the couple. I do not mean just “getting along” but the vision and style of the engagement/wedding shoots reflect the couple. Each photographer has a different style. You may like the photographer as a person but if you are not drawn to their work I would opt out for a photo session.

  • Personalize the shoots.

  • Use props. Be creative.

  • Use outside sources, i.e. Pinterest

  • Last but certainly not least, ask the photographer if they have any ideas for the engagement/wedding photo shoot.

Now!

Let’s get to the good stuff. Over the past years I have come to know a few amazing photographers. It honestly is amazing to see how much an art photographing can be—even for amateurs. Thankfully, though I am lucky enough to showcase pure professionals and their lovely work. I will be showcasing two photographers who are located in Virginia and another individual who is located in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada throughout the month of March. Variety is always a good thing. Each photographer will be showcased with their own blog post. I will be featuring Stacy Smith Evans Photography today. Y’all will just have to come back and check out the other photographers on the next two posts! (I know being patient sucks…) but worth it J

Last year, one of my dear friends back home married the man of her dreams in Hume, Virginia. Honestly, it is one of my favorite places to go especially during the spring and summertime. Hume is surrounded by G-d’s green earth and the smell of country air.

It is breathtaking.

My friend, Lauralene decided to use two different photographers, for her engagement and wedding photos. Keep in mind every wedding is different. However, staying with one direct photographer for each event has its advantages as well. We will be focusing on Lauralene’s engagement photographer (who can capture anything ranging from a wedding to a baby shoot).

One thing I always look for in a photographer is whether this person can stand out in a crowd. What makes them different? Am I immediately drawn to their pictures? I can say with certainty that Stacy Evans Smith Photography did just that. The moment Lauralene posted her engagement photos onto Face book, I was immediately interested in Stacy’s work. I thought to myself, “who is this person” and “oh my word! This girl can capture the personality of the couple and the beauty of G-d’s creation in every picture!” Sidenote: Really, though I am a sucker for nature and TREES. Any professional picture that involves some form of foliage or trees, I am there! Seriously, guys I love trees just NOT in the “chain my body to a tree and don’t cut it down” way… that’s just a bit too intense for moi! Anyways—back on topic, Stacy beautifully captured Lauralene and Kurty Kurt (groom) amidst the trees. Check it out:

Oh and did I mention there’s more?! Stacy was a doll and gave these love birds two different photography shoots. Feast your eyes on these gems:

Seriously, they are too cute! And look at the view! A really wonderful photographer can capture nature in an unreal way. I feel like this engagement photo shows this well, especially with the background.

Remember how earlier I mentioned a few suggestions that you could use for any wedding related shoot…well Lauralene and Kurt received an A++! As an onlooker I loved these aspects in the photo:

1. They mixed it up and had two location shoots. First the beach, Laura and Kurt love the ocean and met there so it definitely had meaning.

2. The second location, wooded area. Laura is from the country in Virginia. Country pride, get it girl!

3. They also used an amazing photographer who they trusted. She gave great poses for the couple to do during the shoot.

4. Plus, I really loved how this couple personalized the shoot with the “B” sign.

5. The “B” sign was made out of wine corks and if you know anything about Lauralene she LOVES wine. Pretty sure that’s one of the reasons why we are such good friends. Wine, it brings people together, hah hah.

Impressed?

I hope so! Stacy is a pretty cool chick. That being said, please, oh please checks out her website and give her a ring (hah, get it, ring) if you need a photography shoot or if you know someone in need of one. Her pictures speak for themselves.
